The Writing Room is Your Online Gym for Daily Writing Workouts
Think of The Writing Room as your online gym. We set a workout plan, and every day we show up to get in our reps.
We don't care if you're a newbie or a veteran. The only thing that matters is showing up and putting in the work. Sprints are a bumpy road, but they build the creative muscle required for skillful storytelling.
No prerequisites. No required years of experience. We designed a format that serves everyone in the community because the constant need for practice never changes, no matter how many years of experience you have.
Just stepping onto the floor. Your goal is simply to build the habit of writing without judgment.
Focus on showing up.
You've got the habit down. Now it's about finding your form by developing a repeatable process and a rhythm.
Your form is locked in. Your objective is to increase your strength by improving the quality of your output and stretching past current limits.

My name is Katina Bertrand Ferguson, and I’ve been writing for over twenty-three years.
My path started with freelance work and content writing for the web—learning the metrics and psychology of keeping people on the page. From there, I moved into copywriting: analyzing real-time conversion feedback to craft persuasive, high-impact messaging that converts.
These days, I’m returning to my creative writing roots: short stories, vignettes, magic realism, and more. I've gotten rusty, and I'm ready to do something about it. I'm willing to show up to "the gym" and transform into a lean, mean, creative writing machine.
Join me, and let's grow together.
Sprints are not designed for you to put out your best work. They are designed to get you to complete work quickly. We are not here to flex fancy writing: expect your initial work to be embarrassingly awful, and find a way to be okay with it. It only gets better with time and practice.
TRUTH: We are just getting one rep in. Form first, strength later. The goal is exercising your creative muscle, not producing a flawless masterpiece on day one.
TRUTH: Sprints are a very bumpy road. They exist to bypass your inner critic, not please it. A brain dump has to exist before you can reshape it into something good. As the week goes on, your draft will become more readable, maybe even shareable. Just know that it won't look like that on the first day.
TRUTH: It just means you haven't put in the reps. Storytelling is a conditioned habit. The more you show up to The Writing Room (your gym), the less time stories will take to conceptualize and build out.
Most writers—even experienced novelists—say they hit their stride around book number four. Don't judge your creative capacity by your first awkward rep. Show up, do the work, and the strength will follow.
